Bacon Wrapped Dates, or How To Make a Woman Fall in Love With You
What is it about bacon wrapped dates that makes them so mouth wateringly delicious? One of my best friends and the most amazing personal gourmet pastry chef a girl could ask for, Chef Kiki does not like to complicate things when it comes to bacon. In fact, she absolutely despises “bacon-flavored” commodities and prefers to strip her heady organic bacon to its bare essentials, strip by mouth-watering strip.
This, however, was a critical moment. I had come to her with an important dream. One my ultimate happiness depended on. I asked her to create for me a simple, savory, salty, sweet, texture-filled dish with a bacon component, because while many things get me excited, few things get me excited like bacon.
So, flip your oven on 350F and come with me on a trip through the basic beauty of my new favorite meal.
Bacon Wrapped Dates Recipe
To make bacon wrapped dates, you need a package of bacon, pitted dates, an oven and a baking sheet. Once you preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, cut the bacon slices in half.* Then, placing the date at one end of the bacon, start rolling and wrap your date. Once finished, place all dates on the cookie sheet and bake in the oven for approximately 20-25 minutes or until crispy and golden brown.
*Note – Use your brain when settling on the proportion of bacon to date, remembering that too thick a roll will leave you with a sloppy, unequally cooked mess.
